Principal’s Message

Kia ora

You will have noticed some changes around the school as we move from the Rangituhi block into the Te Awarua o Parirua building. Our office is in a new location and many classes have changed rooms. As of this week our main carpark will also be out of action. We ask that you park across the road by the Cook Island hall when coming to pick up children. The office is now settled in it’s new site if children are arriving late they still need to come to the office to sign in.

We apologise now for any inconvenience. It is likely the works will continue for at least 2 terms but hopefully by the end of the year we will have a fully refurbished school.

Please add the Hero app to your phone, we are aiming to go paperless so all notices, permission slips and reports will be sent out through Hero. For those who get signed up we will have a draw for PaknSave vouchers at our whanau afternoon.

Nga mihi

Board of Trustees

One of the major jobs of our Board is setting school policies. We recently sent out a health consultation looking for feedback on what our whanau and community would like to see included in our health curriculum.

Please take the time to have your say:

Attendance

We have noticed a pattern of parents regularly picking up their children early. We understand the need to get to appointments however school does not finish until 3pm and we want to optimize the learning time. Just as it is important for children to get here by 9am in the mornings they should also be staying until 3pm.

Due to recent measle outbreaks we are requesting immunisation certificates for all students to be provided to the school office as soon as possible please. This information is recorded in our Student Management System.

Celebrations

Welcome to:

Kingsley and Tiare who have just turned 5 and joined us.

Our new school consellor Nidda who is now here on Mondays.

Te Awarua o Parirua

Our buildings have been named after our school pepeha, the building that has just been refurbished is “Te Awarua o Parirua” or the Porirua Harbour. It has two classes Whai and Pipi and also has our office and library for the rest of the year.

PB4L = Positive Behaviour for Learning

Encouraging and supporting positive behaviour creates the best environment for all students. It enables all students to feel safe and valued at school and to best engage with their learning.

We focus on CARE values: Courage, Ambition, Respect and Endurance.

When focusing on Courage we talk about trying new things, trying things that make us feel nervous, giving it a go even though we might feel anxious.

Can be for little things like tasting a new food that they have never tried before or more public efforts like volunteering to lead a waiata at whanau hui.
