Welcome to Term 3, we have another very busy term ahead. Already students have participated in softball and football skills sessions. We are continuing to practise and prepare for our school production which will be performed in Week 9 of this term.
Next week a very important event is our “Kōrero mai, Kōrero atu” afternoon, a chance for teachers to meet with whanau, share your child’s learning and goals. Please book an appointment time through our Hero app or contact the office to book the time slot for you. All whanau who attend will go in the draw to win one of 5 new chromebooks.
Ngā mihi

We are very fortunate to have the support of a number of services here at school, this includes our Awhi Mai Awhi Atu Wellbeing Specialist, Nidda O’Brien. Nidda is to work individually with students, whānau, groups, or staff, to discuss and support them to understand and cope with problems they may be experiencing, such as anxiety; friendships; emotional regulation; school refusal; disengagement; grief and transitions. In a safe environment or at home, Nidda can assist people in developing the necessary coping skills and providing the right support, advice, and guidance to increase the chances of being effective or successful in overcoming the challenges and barriers they face. Nidda is here at school on Mondays and Tuesdays.

A few years ago we developed a school pepeha to reflect our local community. Students then investigated the plants and wildlife in these environments, it was from this inquiry that our classroom names were selected. Our “Te Awarua o Pari-rua” building has two classrooms named after our harbour environment

We are establishing teams of students to walk to school together. This week we started with Hereford Street and are planning to set up Champion Street next week.
The aim is to provide a safe and sociable way to walk to school. Each student who joins will be given a blue fluoro jacket and each”waka” will have senior students to lead their team.
