Principal’s Message

Kia ora

We would like to thank all our whanau for their flexibilty working with us around the changes to our site. We appreciate it is not as easy to access our school site, so thank you for your patience and understanding. All going well we will have a fully refurbished school by the end of this year.

Thanks also to all those who made it to our whanau hui “Mahi Tahi Tatou” at the end of Term1. We are now planning another event for the middle of this term.

In the meantime we have another busy term, swimming continues so please ensure your children bring their togs and towels on Fridays. There is also cross country, both our school, and the inter-school competition next week. We know that this is a challenge for some but we expect all students to show courage and participate. It is an event where students can demonstrate our CARE values of ambition and endurance.

Nga mihi

Board of Trustees

Our school Board of Trustees is made up of 5 parent and community trustees, a staff trustee and the Principal. It’s the Board’s role to provide governance – setting direction and monitoring progress towards agreed goals.

“School board members are active leaders in our schools. They have an important role of supporting strong professional leadership and ensuring effective teaching for all students through informed governance.

Parents/caregivers and people in the wider community can be parent representatives. School boards need to represent the diversity of their school communities to ensure a bright future for all our children.”

Our meetings are held twice a term and are open to anyone intereseted to attend, the next one will be Tuesday 21 May.

Attendance

We have noticed a pattern of parents regularly picking up their children early. We understand the need to get to appointments however school does not finish until 3pm and we want to optimise the learning time.

Just as it is important for children to get here by 9am in the mornings they should also be staying until 3pm.

PB4L = Positive Behaviour for Learning

Encouraging and supporting positive behaviour creates the best environment for all students. It enables all students to feel safe and valued at school and to best engage with their learning.

We focus on CARE values: Courage, Ambition, Respect and Endurance.

When focusing on Ambition we talk about setting goals, aiming to do better, to challenge yourself to keep improving.

This can be for little things like trying to run one more lap in cross country practice or setting goals that may take all year to achieve.
